If their following is greater than yours, but you both post similar content on the platform, then compare your imagery and find out what they’re doing right and where you’re going wrong. This will help you to post more attention-grabbing content on Instagram.

Your content needs to be able to tell a story

Instagram has a wealth of different ways in which creators can post their content. From adding images to your main gallery to posting on their Instagram Stories, there have never been more capabilities and features on the popular app than there are right now. So use this to your advantage. Use Instagram Stories to tell your online following a story, as the name would suggest. Think about the order in which you’re going to post those things in. 

Are they going to be still images or moving ones? Will they have audio or will they be silent? Do you want your images to be accompanied by music or not? These are all questions you need to ask yourself when it comes to wanting to spin your audience a story using Instagram, whether it be on your main gallery or on your Instagram Stories.


Post consistently

Something you need to be able to do in order to keep your audience interested is to make sure that you’re posting consistently, but don’t be too sporadic. Essentially, you need to consistently post at a rate that you can realistically stick to, whether it be once a week, twice a week, three times a week or even once or twice a month. 

Your audience needs to know that you’re worth following and that comes with reassuring them that you’ll be regularly posting new content for them to enjoy. If you’re too sporadic with it, then they aren’t going to know when to expect new content from you, making it less likely that they’ll actually stick around to find out. Be consistent but refrain from posting every single day so as not to come across too spammy.
